DMCE provided electrical engineering design and supporting mechanical calculations for the Mighty Argo Metropolitan District No. 2 potable water and wastewater treatment facility in Idaho Springs, Colorado. The facility consists of a containerized wastewater treatment unit, an RO building, and a pump house served from a 400 amp, 480/277V three-phase service fed by a utility pad-mounted transformer.
Electrical scope included the main service and one-line design, feeder and branch circuit sizing to the treatment container and RO building, fault current and voltage drop calculations, grounding electrode and bonding design, underground conduit and duct bank routing, and a tank power and instrumentation connection schedule coordinating conduit, communication cable, and junction box requirements with the equipment vendor. DMCE also sized a 250 kW standby diesel generator with automatic transfer switch, derated for the 8,770 foot site elevation and cold weather conditions.
Additional scope included stamped container envelope and internal heat gain/loss calculations required for jurisdictional review, coordinated against the treatment vendor's shop drawings for heat producing equipment.
